Metro Platform Bed

Contemporary urban homes hinge on the kind of lines that make the Metro Platform Bed so cool. Open floor plans call for harder edges to break them up and give the eye a place to rest, and this bed can do both with sleek side panels and a sweeping headboard. Two bold finishes make it even more striking, and optional under-bed drawers make it even more functional.

This modern bed, its side rails and headboard are crafted with mortise-and-tenon joinery and durable MDF and plywood materials. The entire bed is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process - including two color coats and multiple sealers - to ensure an even, lasting finish. Two finishes are available: Choose deep black espresso or fresh white.

The bed's dramatic convex headboard is offset by a either a crisp open foot rail or a solid panel-design footboard for more privacy at the end of the bed. Two or four optional panel-front storage drawers finished in coordinating shades slip easily underneath the bed to catch seasonal clothing, extra blankets and linens, and other bulky items. Panel footboard is included when you order drawers; bed only options come with open foot rail.

The headboard and the foot rail or footboard connect to the side panels with an innovative hook-and-pin system that allows you to set the frame at two heights. Two metal pins are embedded in the headboard and foot rail or board at two positions, and the side rails are outfitted with hook-shaped hardware that slides into place over the pins. Set the bed high for use with our optional storage drawers or set it low for use with a mattress only.

Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif.
