Borrowing design elements from the Mission school of design, the Hilda Platform Bed and optional bedroom collection pieces look equally alluring in traditional and contemporary settings. All pieces are crafted from enduring kiln-dried oak hardwoods and veneers and finished in a rich, dark wood stain for lasting beauty. The bed is available in queen, king, and California king sizes. No box spring is required.

Optional bedroom storage pieces include one or two nightstands, a high chest, and a dresser with matching landscape mirror. Each nightstand has two drawers, the high chest has five drawers, and the dresser has six wide drawers, providing convenient access to clothing, bedding, and personal items. All drawers feature double wood drawer glides for smooth operation, and low-profile, black-finished wood handles. Really loved the bed when I saw the pictures. I am a designer and loved the clean lines and the price was great. My problem with the bed is that that slates under the mattress stick out so you can not tuck it in like it shows in the picture. Slates measure 61inches and queen matress is 60inches across. Also the headboard is not very high so if you have a thivk pillow top matress you will lose alot of headboard. I am making some minor ajustment to the bed with my handyman, because all in all it's a nice bed, I am just very particular.

I'm an interior designer of high-end residential estates, but this was for personal use. Budget was tight so I opted for this model in Cal King. PROS: Delivery was great & the man helped carry it up our flights of stairs. It looks nice and its fairly sturdy once assembled. CONS (or things to consider): The bed itself was a tad tricky to put together and line up: you need 2 people to do it right. The color is way more orangey-brown than shown in the picture, more of a dark stained oak (I was hoping for more of a neutral warm brown, which it appeared to be from 2 different computer screens I had looked at it on). Biggest issue: 1) During assembly one of the slats broke already, and it was simply by lifting them up. 2) The platform part is 2" wider and longer than our Cal King mattress (and its a $2,500 mattress so is "properly" sized). This means you can see the slats. Luckily the duvet & sheets hang over the edges and create enough "pouf" to hide it, but its annoying. Also our mattress is about 18" tall since its a luxury pillow top, so it leaves us with not much headboard space...so the 24" pillow shams I have end up sitting a good 10" above the top of the headboard. CONCLUSION: For the price its decent and it does look good in the room, and so far it seems quite sturdy. But don't expect perfection - you need to tweak it to make it work. (And FYI: you really can't see the legs as they have it in the picture, they obviously took the pic standing way far away, closer to the ground)

the delivery was awful. they did not inform me of when they were coming so who knows where they would have left the 3 huge boxes if i was not there. the delivery man was ill prepared. he had no rollers to roll the boxes from the truck to the front door and they were so heavy that he basically slid them across the dirt. i didn't realize this till i inspected the boxes where i asked him to leave them and saw the black grease stains all over my carpeted stairs. and the worst part is that he accepted my tip and gratitude without telling me what he had done. i was busy looking for cash to give him when it all happened and he was out the door before i had a chance to see the damage! i will never ever order from this company again!

Very nice bed frame, Made of real half inch wood. Assembles fairly easy with minimal effort. The only thing is that the front legs set differently than in the picture. Maybe I did something wrong. Good solid construction however. This was shipped very promptly and delivered to my garage the day it arrived in the city. Overall a great experience with hayneedle and will buy from them again.

A: Adding a box spring will decrease the weight capacity of 400 lbs by whatever the weight of the box spring is. Also keep in mind, adding a box spring will likely cause the entire headboard to be covered.
