Description

Add traditional style to your bedroom with the <strong>Brooklyn I Platform Bed</strong>, featuring a classic mission design. Crafted from select eco-friendly hardwood, this platform bed is available in a variety of sizes, and comes in several beautiful finish options.

Optional under-bed drawers offer excellent storage opportunities. Raised-panel storage drawers are the perfect stylistic addition to the raised-panel footboard, while flat-panel drawers add a modern touch. Solid hardwood construction with durable casters provide years of easy operation. Sides of the storage drawers will be visible under the bed with this particular open footboard. The drawers are available in sets of two or four to accommodate your storage needs.

About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.

The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.

Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

I bought this bed for my teenage son who was getting too tall for his twin bed. [...] there were no missing or damaged pieces. The instructions were easy to follow, except for one minor confusion. It came with 2 different sets of legs. It was unclear at first whether we were supposed to use some at the head end and the others at the foot end. It ended up that you choose whether to use the tall set of legs or the short set, depending on if you're using a boxspring mattress or not with it. We used the long set as we're only using a mattress. You throw the other set of legs away. Same with the center support. I guess it's nice they just include both sizes to give you that option. Assembly took about 25 minutes.It's hard to find a platform bed, so it was either online or from [...]. The color goes well with the other maple colored furniture my son already had.Overall, I was very impressed by the quality of this bed. Compared to[...] furniture, this bed is so much more solid and even the hardware seems of higher quality. I did buy the mattress at [...] memory foam with latex), which worked out nicely with this bed. Note: mattress comes rolled up when you buy it, so it's easy to take home with you and carry into the house and expands to full size withing a few hours. There is no need to buy plywood, the wooden slat support it comes with is fine. I don't know whether they've made improvements since some of the other reviews seems so negative, but I'm very pleased with the support. I ordered the queen sized bed, by the way.I was very hesitant about buying furniture online because so much could go wrong (damaged or missing pieces, etc.) but now I'm so glad I did. This was a very positive experience and I would definitely order from Hayneedle again.

If it weren't for the slats, I would give this bed 4 or 5 stars. You get two sets of slats, each stapled to two thin strips of material. If you can picture that, you'll see that it's a little unwieldy to begin with. Once you manage to get the slats unrolled and right side up on the frame, they don't lay flat. Would straight, level slats be too much to ask? Then, the center supports are incredibly flimsy. The one near the headboard slanted off to the side the first time I laid down on it, and I'm having to buy metal t-braces and install one on either side of both center supports. All that connects them to the center rail right now is one little bolt. I weigh a little over 200 lbs. Obviously, a queen bed should be made to support FAR more than this. Hopefully the braces will work, but I may have to pay for my own durable slats and chunk these cheap pine ones that came with the bed.

This is a very attractive bed. It is easy to assemble, appears very sturdy. The slats are sturdy and appropriate to bed. I use it with a double memory foam mattress, which fits.

This product looks great and seems sturdy enough to hold an adult. We got two beds and one of the center posts is not flush with the floor. Not sure if the post is too short or the floor uneven.
