You might not think about your bedside table on a daily basis. But chances are, you have been glad to have your eyeglasses, a favorite book, your phone and alarm clock - even a glass of water - close by. Bedside tables come in many varieties to beautify your room.

What Is Right for Your Room
Bedside tables and nightstands come individually or they are sometimes included in bedroom sets. Depending on the room, one nightstand might work best rather than purchasing two. To avoid looking off balance - and difficult to access from the bed - the surface of your bedside tables should be about 6 inches above the height of the bed.

Bedside tables can reflect your personal style with straight-forward modern looks or romantic curves. For storage space, some nightstands include drawers and shelves.

Different materials
Because bedside tables are meant to complement bed frames and headboards, you will find nightstands made with wicker, wood, and metals that are frequently used for creating beds. Some nightstand tabletops and other accent pieces are made from glass.

Routine Care
If you do prefer a convenient glass of water in the night, use a coaster to prevent water stains on wood and quicker clean up for glass. Glass tabletops clean easily using any glass cleaner. Fine wood bedside tables require occasional cleaning and polishing.
